St Marys Magazine

I have chosen to use this image, as it is a college magazine and the target audience is college students and the person on the front is recognisable to people at college. The subject of the photo is the college student doing something not known until you read the article, drawing the reader in. It helps suggest the genre of the magazine and people should know its student based. Also, the image is anchored by the cover story 'Big Tolly Lad In Action'. 'Tolly lad' being the subject picture. I chose to call the magazine 'St Mary's Magazine' as it is a college magazine for St. Mary's College. I have chosen a blue and yellow theme as they are the St Mary's college colours. is therefore representative of the college and helps signify which college magazine it is. The image I have used uses a direct mode of address whereby the subjects are looking towards the audience. I used this as it is a generic convention of magazine covers, and it helps create a link to the audience as it is as if they are looking at them, in order to make the magazine appealing to its audience, I have used bright lighting in the imagery, and bright, clear text / text boxes so that everything is visible and easy to see.  I have kept this magazine very simple and only included a barcode and a logo. If I did this again i'd include things such as slogans and websites etc.

Contents

I have designed a contents page for my preliminary task for St Mary's College Magazine.
I have used a NME style contents with pictures at each side and a larger one in the middle as pictures are more appealing to my target audience than just writing. But I have included what will be on each page down the middle so its obvious to the reader what is on each page.
